Ease of Travelling in Mumbai Locals, Knowing Directions etc ::: Request for Guidance?

Hi Mumbaites,

I am from Pune, and (expectionally) less conversant with travelling inside the great city of Mumbai, expecially by Bus/ Locals.

I imagine it very difficult to move inside Bombay to different parts, (Since I know nothing), and for business reasons now I need to visit Bombay often, in time to come.

I am anxious, out of two reasons 1) The rush in local travels 2) Not knowing best/ easy routes/ modes to travel.

Its a feelling of getting stuck because of lack of knowledge & I feel it may affect my effeciency severely.

Requesting for suggestions on how to overcome these barriers so that things can become little bit easy atleast in the initial period of say next 6 months time.

I would be very grateful to Mumbaites for guidance.

Juz buy a local guide book of rs 10 which u get in local trains and also on roads n travel in afternoon in locals bcoz they r not crowded and catch an experienced person on the route o which u travel an d u get better experience with time wish u all the best.

Ist get used to local trains at odd hours.. like travel from Churchgate or CST to the suburbs in the morning & vis a vis. this will help u know the train stations and manners.

Secondly visit teh website of BEST find a route and time table. try to board at teh starting point so you donot get crowd and talk with the driver-conductor they hv wast knowledge use it.



and ofcourse take a taxi - mind you sometimes taking a cab is much faster than local trains at times. [not always]

The only way is to get used to of traveling in Local.

If you are a frequent traveler then get a pass for the trains (even first class pass is not so expensive if made for long duration).

You will find that the rush is very less in first class during non peak hours, and its a convenient mean for traveling.

For the rest, you can easily find buses, autos from every station to nearby places.

thre r so many convinient local trains to travel, u just purchse a city map ..its provided with bus routes .num, and land marks identify them on yr route..litle experience male u commom..
